Navigating the Impact of Laws that Restrict Health Equity Initiatives

Laws that restrict public health’s ability to discuss the root causes of inequity (such as laws restricting DEI related efforts) or directly target marginalized communities are creating immediate barriers to addressing health inequities, causing greater harm and mistrust with their communities and subduing the public health workforce. In this webinar, attendees will learn about tools developed by Health Resources in Action for health departments to navigate the impact of these laws. These tools are meant to promote learning, and a more unified, consistent voice to reaffirm public health’s commitment to health and racial equity. These tools include core messaging concepts, impact analysis activities, best practices for developing and delivering testimony, example facilitator guide, messaging examples, and power mapping strategies.
